For the last three years, Stab’s partnered with some of surfing’s most eclectic stylists and a few coffins of unorthodox equipment for the Electric Acid Surfboard Test.
For our preliminary dose, we took Dane Reynolds on his first surf trip since his twins were born, spending a week in the right-hand points of Southern Mexico and putting ten left-field designs through their paces. After wrapping his head around the quiver, Dane chose Ryan Burch’s asym as the most eye-opening and progressive design of the first Acid Test batch.
Last year, we took Stephanie Gilmore to East Africa, where she put on a most elegant performance on her tripped-out tangerine-tinted quiver, before crowning Simon Jones and his iconic Channel Twin as the second Acid Test champ.
This year, we tapped Noa Deane, the relentlessly progressive Gold Coast phenom, and a surfer infamous for refusing to ride anything but his beloved 6’1 Luke Short thrusters. Filmed on location on the North Shore of Oahu, we’ll be premiering this year’s Electric Acid Surfboard Test around the world over the next month, and the film will be online soon after.
